Interview with Plugola
In this episode, I’m chatting with Plugola , a Chicago based social network and marketplace for indie music artists and their fans.
If you can’t see the video, please click here . The music featured during the intro and credits of this episode is a song called “Sailing Out to Sea” from local Chicago band Grey Shore Avenue .
Here are some highlights from my chat with Plugola founder Erik Peterson:
-Music fans today really want to be involved with their favorite musicians. They want to interact with them and get to know them on a more personal level. As a result, these fans will buy those musicians’ music and help promote them.
-Plugola allows fans to buy songs from their favorite bands, resell the songs to their friends, and make a commission. Musician’s can set the commission rate.
-Getting on iTunes can be tough for independent bands and musicians. Plugola seeks to provide an alternative way for these bands and musicians to get their music heard.
-Digital albums provide a way for the music industry to restore the value that used to exist with CD sales.
